All Annie Berner pieces are handmade in Norway from 90-95% recycled metals. 925 silver and 585 gold are precious metals and should be treated and cared for accordingly.
Care recommendations for all pieces
After wear we recommend gently wiping your pieces with the soft cloth provided before storing in an airtight bag. This is to remove any stains from wear and to prevent possible tarnish. We also recommended avoiding direct contact with liquids such as perfume, hairspray and lotion, as exposure to moisture or chemicals may cause tarnishing to occur faster..
Your packaging will contain a padded box to avoid damage while in transit, a soft cloth for wiping metals and airtight zip bags for you to keep your jewelry in while not in use.

925 silver - Use silver dip or paste to clean your pieces; make sure to follow the product’s instructions carefully. After cleaning, pat dry with a soft cloth and let dry completely before storing to avoid tarnish - a hairdryer on low temperature can be useful to reach all areas. We recommend storing 925 silver pieces in separate bags or containers to avoid scratching. Airtight bags are provided with the packaging. If you purchase multiple pieces or a pair of earrings you will receive one bag for each piece.
Gold plated 925 silver - We add a 3-5 microns layer of 14K yellow gold for our plated pieces. We use 925 silver as the base metal for these pieces. When the base metal is 925 silver and the gold layer is greater than 0.5 microns this technique is traditionally called gold vermeil. All gold plating is done in our studio ensure a consistent quality and color. Gold plating can maintain beautifully if cared for properly. We encourage you to remove any gold plated pieces when showering, washing your hands or working out, as this can increase the wear. To clean your pieces; Avoid any chemical cleaners. Gently rinse in warm soapy water. Pat dry with a soft cloth and let dry completely before storing to avoid tarnish - a hairdryer on low temperature can be useful to reach all areas. 585 gold - All pieces are available for order in solid 585 gold, also known as 14K gold, in either yellow, rose or white. Keep in mind that 585 gold is heavier and more costly than 925 silver. We calculate the weight and price upon request. To clean your pieces; gently rinse in warm soapy water. Pieces with stones or pearls - The cleaning process for pieces with stones and pearls differ slightly, as it is important that these pieces are not completely submerged in water. Submerging pieces with stones and pearls can cause water to become trapped in the setting, and will be difficult to dry completely. This can lead to rust which ultimately can cause the stone or pearl to fall out. To clean your pieces; use a damp soft cloth to gently wipe the metal, making sure to avoid the area close to the setting. Pat dry with a dry soft cloth and let dry completely before storing to avoid tarnish - a hairdryer on low temperature can be useful to reach all areas.
